I am a photographer, writer and biologist based out of Nelson, British Columbia, Canada.
Steve Ogle Photography is not a multi-national conglomeration nor a media organization. I am just a guy with a camera who loves expressing what he experiences out there in the real world. I am committed to documenting the world via the most unobtrusive yet evocative means possible.
Throughout the years I’ve developed a dichotomy in my pursuits, from one end as a devout nature freak to the other life as an adventure sports enthusiast. Of course they’re not mutually exclusive, and both of these passions resonate when it comes to my photography and writing.
When it comes to this profession, most of my experience is derived from assignments and personal endeavours of the far-flung kind: away from the backyard and into the wilderness- of which we British Columbians are fortunate to still have plenty. My favourite photographic subject is landscapes but wherever possible I try to incorporate a subject, be it a grizzly bear or a grizzled skier. I work often with outdoor equipment companies to showcase their product in action, and with magazines to convey the essence of a particular subject matter. Please see my publications and blog pages for examples.
For equipment, I use Nikon bodies and glass, and am up-to-speed on image processing and workflow. My work (photo and word) and submission of it are timely, concise and professional. Rates (inquire where necessary) are sometimes negotiable but bear in mind that I try to adhere to industry standards.
